Общините Петрич и Серес са партньори по проект Културен дипол трансграничен район България-Гърция 2014-2020 г.. Община Петрич ще направи пълна реконструкция на сграда, която е бивша собственост на Гранични войски, ще я превърне в музей с достатъчна площ за експониране на богатото културно-историческо наследство. Стойността на реконструкцията е 650 000 евро. В проекта е заложено и изготвянето на експозиционен план и преместване на експозициите, които се намират в сградата, в която сега е Исторически музей-Петрич, както и изработване на маркетингова стратегия за рекламиране на културно-историческите обекти в Петрич и Серес.
Кметът на родната община - Димитър Бръчков,подчерта значимостта на проекта. "Изграждането на нова сграда на Исторически музей-Петрич е стратегическо, защото дава възможност на нашето културно-историческо наследство и множеството артефакти да бъдат показани по подходящия начин, по-добър достъп на посетителите и, разбира се, ще спомогне за образователния процес при най-младите", каза Бръчков.
Кметът на Серес Петрос Ангелидис посочи, че се сбъдва общата мечта между Петрич и Серес за създаването на културен двуполюс. "Наличието на културния двуполюс ще показва особените характеристики на нашите два района", каза той.
