Crikvenica’s Tree of Love project helps people from all over the world surprise their loved ones
Last week, the Croatian City of Crikvenica announced that it will help citizens gift their loved ones a special Valentine’s Day present. More specifically, it is continuing its Tree of Love project for yet another year, allowing people to adopt a tree and inscribe a plaque with a message.
Every February, the shelves of shops around the globe begin to overflow with heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and the typical Valentine’s Day presents. While many do opt for gifts such as jewellery, sweets, and flowers, others search for new and unique ways of expressing their love. Now, with Crikvenica’s Tree of Love project, one can turn away from generic gifts and choose something that carries special meaning.
In a press release, the municipality explains that the trees have been well-received as presents over the past years. Moreover, it revealed that the project has attracted international attention as previous adopters have been local inhabitants, residents from other Croatian cities, and people from beyond the country’s borders.
For the price of HRK 300 (approximately EUR 40), one can adopt and plant a tree of their choice on the Dubračina promenade in Crikvenica. According to the municipality, the trees will be planted in March or April, depending on various factors such as the type of tree and weather conditions, among others.
At the request of the adopter, the city will also include a metal plaque with a special inscription as proof of the adoption. The municipal trade company Eko Murvica will then take care of the trees throughout the year.
Those interested in adopting a tree as a special Valentine’s Day gift can do so by contacting the City of Crikvenica via email (info@crikvenica.hr) or telephone (051 455 404).
