8 sports clubs presented their activities to residents and guests of the Bulgarian city
The #BeActiveTour initiative of the European Commission, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bulgaria, brought together athletes, children and everyone who loves sports in Vratsa. The European Week of Sports #BeActive (23-30 September) thus continues to attract more people living in different cities of the country.
The aim is to provoke interest in sports through games, demonstrations and various activities. In Vratsa yesterday (28 September) 8 sports clubs presented their activities to residents and guests of the city. Demonstrations in athletics, football, basketball, table tennis, wrestling and cycling were held at the Hristo Botev Sports Complex.
The event was organized by the Municipality of Vratsa in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The sports celebration was officially opened by Alexander Georgiev, Chief of Staff of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the project manager of European Week of Sports.
"I am pleased to note that with each passing year, European Sports Week enjoys more and more participants. Sport is not only high achievements, it is health, a way of life and last but not least it creates wonderful friendships. I hope we will be able to ignite the spark for an active and healthy lifestyle in all the children here," said Alexander Georgiev. He also expressed his gratitude to the Municipality of Vratsa, the local sports clubs and all athletes and children who participated in the initiative.
The Deputy Mayor of Vratsa with a portfolio in Culture, Sports, Social and Youth Activities, Tourism and Investment, Alexander Vladimirov, also attended the event. He congratulated the Ministry of Youth and Sports for organizing it. Alexander Georgiev presented an honorary plaque to the Ministry for the support provided in the implementation of the initiative #BeActive European Week of Sports 2021 to the Mayor of Vratsa Kalin Kamenov.
Among the guests of the event were also the chairman of the Municipal Council - Vratsa Vladimir Hristov, as well as the chairman of the sports commission at the General Assembly Angel Ivanov and Momchil Kalistratov - a member of the commission.
Today (29 September) many more children, athletes and athletes will join #BeActive in Montana, and tomorrow the initiative will take place in Vidin. The events of the European Sports Week are held in strict compliance with the measures against the spread of COVID-19.
#BeActive is part of the European Commission's initiative to promote sport and physical activity among EU citizens. The national coordinator for Bulgaria is the Ministry of Sports, co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
