At Château La Coste, care of the vines, the wine making process and the quality of the finished product are of paramount importance. Architect Jean Nouvel was commissioned to design a technologically advanced wine making “chai”, which would ensure that the finest wine is produced. He has constructed two vast contemporary buildings with spherical form. Each building is 10 meters high and is made of corrugated aluminium. The central role of gravity along with other technological innovations enable a production of wine that is loyal to the specifics of the La Coste terroir. The latest technology protects the natural expression of the grapes, and brings new life to ancient tradition.
But Château La Coste is not just and only about wine tasting and winery tours. The vineyard is the place where art, architecture and land live in harmony. In 2004, artists and architects from around the world were invited to come to the landscape of Chateau La Coste and choose a place that “spoke to them”, then to create something that would take up residence there. The result is a series of intriguing art objects linked by a walking trail around the vineyards of La Coste that can be seen at the art and architecture tours organized through 180 hectares of wooded hilltops, valleys and vines.
