Deva to have its first smart parking lot

Deva to have its first smart parking lot

Photovoltaic panels will be installed on its roof to supply it with energy

The Romanian City of Deva, in the historical region of Transylvania,  will soon have its first smart above-ground parking lot, announced the mayor Florin Nicolae Oancea, on his Facebook profile. Deva will thus join the first two large Romanian cities that have adopted smart parking solutions, namely Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

Taking into account the shortage of parking lots in the city of Deva and the fact that horizontally it is impossible to significantly increase their number, the City Hall has looked for these modern solutions to cover the increased demand for parking spaces. The total value of the investment is 4,932,440 lei without VAT (1,021,503.79 euros).

The first step in achieving this goal was to prepare a feasibility study. The document was proposed for approval to local councilors, in an extraordinary meeting held today, 11 May 2020.

Details of the project

The parking lot will be at 3 levels and will have a total of 63 parking spaces or 21 per level. It will be built on a system of concrete foundations on which the metal structures and other equipment of the system will be mounted. The edifice of the parking will be completely covered.

Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof of the parking lot in order to produce electricity. The venue will be connected to utilities such as electricity, telecommunications and a storm sewer network.

The smart above-ground parking lot will be located in the crowded area on Carpați Street, near the former Polyclinic. Works are set to be completed 7 months after the signing of the contract.
