Energy refurbishment process can be very complex and puzzling for homeowners. It is not always easy to understand why and how saving energy affects daily life and in what ways investment is justified. Moreover, it is often the case that those who are willing to reap the benefits of energy refurbishment, such as increased property value, thermal comfort and reduced environmental impact, are not aware how to conduct the whole process themselves.
Consequentially, the INNOVATE project sets the objective to motivate homeowners to carry out energy retrofit of private buildings, by offering them attractive packages in a one-stop-shop. The partnership consortium of the project, funded by the European Union, is composed of 13 partners from the public, private and research spheres.
For instance, the Czech municipality Litoměřice which is in the initial phase of the project, organizes meetings between homeowners and local stakeholders (banks, construction companies), in order to properly identify their needs and present the concept of a One-Stop-Shop. Namely, municipally-led organization where the energy managers of the city will be providing advice and support throughout the whole renovation process, followed by proper monitoring the results in terms of savings 5 years after project implementation ends. Local authorities will also be providing online consultation kit, which is supposed to help homeowners follow up on their energy savings alone.
On top of this, the city will subcontract financial expertise and building inspection to local actors, seek further funding schemes, combining local and national schemes, so as the customers (households), could be given easy solutions, without much bureaucratic hassle.
