Europe for Citizens call for proposals has been opened

Networks of Towns, Town Twinning and Civil Society measures are accepting applications

New call for proposals under the Europe for Citizens programme has been opened, announced the European Commission. Project proposals are accepted in one of the three measures Networks of Towns, Town Twinning and Civil Society which all fall under Strand 2: Democratic engagement and civic participation. The total budgets allocated to this call are EUR 4.7 million, EUR 4.8 million and EUR 3.7 million respectively. The three measures aim to “Encourage democratic and civic participation of citizens at Union level”.

Town twinning brings together partner towns in a twinning event which is in line with the Programme priorities. By mobilising citizens at a local and Union levels to debate on concrete issues from the European political agenda, civic participation in the EU's policy making process is promoted and opportunities for societal engagement and volunteering at Union level are created.

Networks of Towns coordinates and sustains the cooperation between municipalities and associations when it comes to the exchange of good practices. Finally, Civil Society Projects promote transnational partnerships and networks directly involving citizens.

The eligible applicants are either public bodies or non-profit organisations with legal personality, established in the Member States or Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo.

The deadline for all topics is 1st September 2019.

More information on the eligibility criteria, accepted activities and call background can be found from from the Programme Guide.
