Free-entry school market will take place 1-3 September
The “Book for Book” (Libro contro libro) initiative returns to Venice from Tuesday, 1 September till Thursday 3 September. The traditional market for the exchange of used school books will have its eleventh edition.
The event will be open from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:30 to 17:00 in the PalaPlip auditorium, on San Donà Street 195 in Carpenedo. Students will be able to bring their schoolbooks or use the special "Looking for-Sale-Exchange" boards to leave their announcements searching to find the books requested by the various schools or to dispose of those that they will no longer need.
The initiative is promoted by the Social Cohesion Department of the Venice City Council to offer families an opportunity to reduce the costs of purchasing schoolbooks. Furthermore, that way young people can learn to value savings, reuse books and reduce waste.
The activity also represents a moment of social aggregation between the children and families of the area. The Municipality stresses that entry will be free but in full compliance with the rules imposed due to the health emergency.
Tables and chairs will be made available by the city, without the need to make reservations. Municipal administrators will offer information and assistance to young people and parents in the management of spaces and advertisements. At the same time, book exchange "negotiations" will be handled directly by the students or their families.
Further information on the event is available at the Municipality of Venice - Social Cohesion Department's email: info.ociocio@comune.venezia.it, or you can call and send an SMS to 348 390 1439.
