400 people can be vaccinated per day
The chairman of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) of Romania, Valeriu Gheorghiță, announced the preparation of drive-thru vaccination centres. By the end of April, the country's first centres of this kind will be established, which will receive vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech. These drive-thru centres are being planned for Bucharest, Deva (Hunedoara county), and other counties.
People can get to these vaccination centres through personal vehicles, taxis, Uber, or other public transport vehicles with a maximum capacity of 4+1 people. They will be required to display their ID cards in the triage areas, hopefully along with the previously completed form (it can be downloaded from the application).
In the drive-thru centres, without an appointment, about 400 people can be vaccinated every day. There will be at least four vaccination teams in each city.
The head of the vaccine programme announced at a press conference that Romania would soon vaccinate 100,000 people against coronavirus on a regular basis. Beginning next month, the authorities will consider allowing people in rural areas to get vaccinated without having to programme the platform.
“We are thinking more and more about changing the way of programming, at least for the centres that are in rural areas. There may even be the possibility of addressing the vaccination centre directly or through an announcement by telephone. People can simply call directly to the vaccination centre, set the day when they can go to the vaccination centre and show up that day,“ said Valeriu Gheorghiță.
This weekend in Timișoara, a "vaccination marathon" is planned as part of another attempt to raise the number of people who have been vaccinated. The vaccination committee reported that doctors, nurses, and students from Timișoara hospitals and the Victor Babeș Medicine and Pharmacy University would volunteer in a three-day drive to vaccinate 10,000 people between 23 April and 25 April.
