The Municipality of Fuengirola is offering free energy-saving kits to local small businesses in a bid to show support for the private sector of the Andalusian city and to raise awareness about more responsible power consumption habits.
There are 200 smart devices of this kind available, which will be handed out to the first small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have registered and meet the criteria for them on the municipal website.
“Fuengirola is a lively, dynamic city with a great deal of commercial activity, where the City Council, together with the entire commercial sector, stimulates the activity, making it a city where commerce is an important focus of attraction,” explains Isabel González, the city’s councillor for innovation.
The officials are adamant that this initiative is their way of showing support for the small local retailers by allowing them to save money on their energy bills and thus raise their profitability.
The Energy Kit consists of a tablet to manage all the establishment's energy resources and a programmable smart switch, which is a device that automates the establishment's control and is intended to manage energy.
It also includes two programmable smart plugs, which communicate with the app to control the entire energy circuit; an ambient climate sensor, which aims to control the temperature; and a climate control system to control temperature and humidity and which allows for comprehensive management of the business.
The Energy Kit is an initiative included in the 'Fuengirola + Viva' project, a plan that is funded by the call for aid to strengthen commercial activity in tourist areas within the framework of the Next-Generation Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the EU.
