At the end of 2021, the Croatian government adopted the Sisak-Moslavina County revitalisation programme, which seeks to help the region recover from the devastating effects of a recent 6.2 earthquake. The programme will aim to achieve two main goals: reconstructing the area and promoting the county’s competitiveness.
On 8 January 2022, the City of Novska revealed that the construction of a campus for the video game industry PISMO will help realise the latter goal.
The modern campus will cost approximately EUR 49.9 million and cover an area of 8 hectares in the Novljan Business Zone. It will feature numerous facilities and house studios, student dormitories, a Business Incubator and an eSport arena with 4,000 seats, among others.
In addition to this, It will offer both a five-year higher education programme as well as a high-school programme for 50 and 24 students a year, respectively. Therefore, the campus will offer secure accommodation alongside a canteen, conference hall, and sports hall.
Visiting Novska on 12 January, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković commented on the gaming industry and its success, revealing that it will help the city become a magnet for young people. Taking this further, the government revealed that more than 50% of the gaming companies in the country are registered in Novska.
“We will strive to systemically support the development of Sisak-Moslavina County, especially through the Gaming Industry Campus project, funded by the Just Transition Fund, which would further strengthen the path from the Incubator to the campus to the centre of the gaming industry in Croatia, right here in Novska,” shared Plenković.
