Greece is ready to start its tourism campaign with the aim of boosting early bookings

The country is trying to move away from the “sun-and-sea model”

As you might know, Greece is one of the most spectacular countries in the world and is a preferred place to spend unforgettable moments of millions of people every year. The Greek National Tourism Organization informed that the new edition of its traditional yearly advertising campaign is ready to start. The aim of this action is to boost early bookings and as is always the case, it will be carried out over the course of the first few months of the year.

The new campaign will focus on all the digital tools available and target the markets of Europe, the US and Canada. The organization is planning to take part in a total of 47 international tourism fairs during 2020.

Move away from the “sun-and-sea model”

The hope of the stakeholders for 2020 is to at least achieve the same figures as last year. Every year around 30 million foreign visitors come to spend their holidays in the country. Another goal for Greece is to move away from the so-called “sun-and-sea model”. In fact, 80% of Greek territory is covered by mountains - something that many potential tourists do not know. To remedy this, the country has already begun a wider marketing push aimed at promoting its vast mountain ranges.

The biggest and most popular Greek ski resorts are on Parnassos, Kalavyta, Vasilitsa, Kaimaktsalan, Pelion and Mainalo Mountains. All of them offer unforgettable snowy adventures and cosy venues.

What is more, one should not forget that Greece is also blessed with many naturally beautiful locations, a vast array of top tourist destinations, perfect picturesque views, awe-inspiring historical sites and is of course also rich in tradition.

Thanks to its location, what is now Greece has served as the home of many ancient civilizations – all of which have left traces scattered around the countryside. That is why visiting architectural sites, museums and art galleries is also an absolute must when visiting – as is experiencing the way of life and the culture and customs of the Greek people across the country’s diverse regions.
