Merijn Ruis teaches Happiness to middle school kids using his self-invented method
The Happiness Lessons are part of the school program of more than 250 middle schools in the Netherlands. After realizing that schools focus too much on acquiring knowledge, regular course and achievement of goals and not enough on the personal happiness of the kids, Merjin Ruis has started creating and teaching happiness lessons for kids. These lessons are aimed at middle school kids, but the program can easily be adapted for other groups as well.
Merijn has put the program online so that everyone can start teaching the program. He hopes that his website will become a platform where teachers can share their experiences and expertise in order to add on to the happiness lessons. For now, the Happiness Lessons teach that happiness depends on gratitude, positive thinking, giving, meditation and confidence. The lessons consist of different exercises and many of them involve movement which keeps it fun and energetic.
