Lidl Ireland launches online grocery shopping across the capital through mobile app
For those of you who live in Dublin and value their time and efforts, we have good news: now you can save up on queuing by purchasing groceries from Lidl. The German retailer has announced a few days ago that it will be offering online payments and deliveries through the Buymie app with waiting time starting from as little as one hour.
The app must be downloaded before placement of a minimal purchase of 20 euro. For orders exceeding 100 euro, there will be no delivery fee. Otherwise, the latter varies according to the preferred delivery time: 6.99 euro for one-hour and 3.99 euro for delivery within 3 hours, respectively. On top of that, customers are required to pay a “platform fee” as a proportion of their order to Buymie, which starts from 14.75% and declines to 9.75% beyond 120 euro spent on products.
The data regarding prices and available products, as not 100% of the goods could be purchased online, will be updated daily by Lidl staff. Last year a test trial of the new service was carried out in parts of the Irish capital, before including the whole area.
