Tourist application for mobile phones "Nature in Hand" was developed by three non-governmental organizations from Bulgaria and Romania under a cross-border cooperation project between the two countries. The application works as a navigator and provides up-to-date and useful information about the natural sites and tourist attractions in the Bulgarian regions of Montana, Vidin, Vratsa, Pleven and the districts of Dolj, Mehedinti and Olt in Romania. The innovative application aims to be of benefit to citizens of both countries as well as all potential tourists. Application functionality allows further route planning as well as sharing your preferred route. The mobile application can be downloaded completely free of charge and can be used without Internet access.
The project also includes 21 information boards in 14 settlements from Vidin and Vratsa. They feature a route with landmarks within the area and a download code for the mobile application. As part of the project, six two-day training exercises were also carried out.
The project "Network for Sustainable Use of Natural Heritage and Resources in the Cross-Border Region" is implemented under the INTERREG programme Romania - Bulgaria and has a duration of 24 months. Funding for the project is worth 511,696 euros delivered by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
