Walks take place in hundreds of cities around the world

Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. She was a writer, urbanist and activist who championed the voices of everyday people in neighborhood planning and city-building. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours.

The tours take place in hundreds of cities around the world and are organized locally by city-builders around the world. The idea of Jane’s Walks is to support a community-based approach to city building through citizen-led walking tours that make space for people to observe, reflect, share, question and collectively reimagine the places in which they live, work and play. All Jane Jacobs Walk events are given and taken for free.
