Waterfalls in Krka National Park, Croatia

Krka National Park labelled as a “Safe Stay in Croatia” destination

Krka National Park labelled as a “Safe Stay in Croatia” destination

This National Park is among the first protected areas to receive the label “Safe Stay in Croatia”

Croatia’s Krka National Park has received safety stamps: “Safe Stay in Croatia” and “Safe Travels”. These labels act as proof that the park is in accordance with the safety guidelines put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In other words, Krka National Park has been designated as a safe place for tourists and travellers.

The park is located in Croatia’s Šibenik-Knin County and it is named after the river Krka. In addition to this, it is best known for its series of breath-taking waterfalls and the protected (or only slightly altered) ecosystems that lie within it. Now, it is among Croatia’s first protected areas to receive the aforementioned stamps of recognition for safety and security.

Safe Stay in Croatia

Last month, the Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac and the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić announced the “Safe Stay in Croatia” project. In a press conference on 25 February, they presented this national label and explained that people can now visit the project’s website to find out which Croatian destinations are safe to travel to.

The “Safe Stay in Croatia” project has the potential to attract more tourists as travellers will find it easier to determine which hotels and attractions they can visit during the pandemic. Therefore, the Croatian Ministry of Tourism and Sports has created this stamp of security to eliminate any doubts and fears that potential tourists may have.

Safe Travels

In 2020, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) launched the “Safe Travels” initiative. More specifically, the WTTC developed global protocols based on the guidelines given by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If the health and hygiene protocols of a destination align with those set by the WTTC, they may then receive the “Safe Travels” stamp.

Croatia’s Krka National Park has received both the global “Safe Travels” stamp as well as the national label of “Safe Stay in Croatia”. Thus, the park guarantees the safety and security of its visitors.
