London is joining the 100 Resilient Cities

The city will develop a strategy to become more resilient to social, economic, and physical challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century

Cities across the world are adopting the style of resilience planning to face the risks and the challenges that are part of the 21st century. London is joining a network of peers from cities across the globe that will share best practices, innovative thinking and robust strategies. The city will develop a strategy to become more resilient to social, economic, and physical challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century.

The 100 Resilient Cities initiative, pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, aims to share ideas and design plans to tackle the UK capital’s challenges including a growing population, infrastructure and transport. That’s an important step for London because the city will face huge pressures in the future, including the impact of Brexit on the economy, a severe lack of affordable housing and the challenges of tackling serious violence on the streets. The new chief resilience officer who will lead the resilience strategy for London is Mrs. Fiona Twycross
