Malaga is hosting the Greencities forum for the 11th time

The host city will present some 20 innovative projects of its own

Starting today, 30 September, until 1 October, The Andalusian coastal city of Malaga will once again welcome participants to its annual Forum of Urban Intelligence and Sustainability in its 11th edition. This event will take place at the Palace of Trade Fairs and Congresses (FYCMA) in the same city.

It is a premier event gathering representatives from many Spanish municipalities as well as experts, media and companies, all of which are working in the fields of bringing up and integrating innovations into the fabric of contemporary Spanish urban life.

More than 30 mayors from most of Spain’s major cities are attending

The Forum represents a convenient platform for catching up and sharing good practices in the field of green technology, smart innovation and sustainability among the representatives from major Spanish cities. It is expected that more than 30 mayors from all over the country will attend.

Malaga will play host but that does not mean that this is all for that city. Its administration wants to use the opportunity to showcase what strategies, projects and innovations have been conceived recently within its limits.

To that end, upon entering the venue, the visitors will encounter Stand 1 which will display local initiatives organized by the public and/or private sectors.

For example, the City Hall is keen to present its initiatives, such as the Climate Plan and services, such as those provided by the Centro Asesor Ambiental (Environmental Consultancy Centre), which has issued more than 800 certificates of quality to enterprises in recent years.

Likewise, the topic of sustainable energy will be high on the agenda, and Malaga will show that the progress it has achieved in that field. For one, there are the renewable energy plants of LIMASAM and EMASA, and there is also the photovoltaic network that covers 41 buildings in the municipality. Not to mention the project in Parcemasa which previews the installation of self-sufficient photovoltaic park capable of bringing about 56% on electrical energy savings.

As for electronic services, the city administration will present its digital services hub and the new version of the free app called “Málaga Funciona” (Malaga Works).
