“ForeverEdinburgh” has been developed jointly by interested parties and local authorities and aims to promote the city as a spectacular tourist destination
Edinburgh is the UK’s top visitor destination other than London and local authorities aim to keep it that way despite the pandemic. In an effort to accomplish this task, officials, alongside key players in the city’s tourism industry, have joined forces for the development and the launch of the “ForeverEdinburgh” campaign.
“ForeverEdinburgh” was launched earlier this week with the goal of protecting the Scottish capital’s tourism industry and promoting it as a safe and welcoming destination. The initiative is set to encourage locals as well as visitors to share the things they love about the city and what they most like doing by using the #ForeverEdinburgh hashtag.
Ultimately, officials believe that this will not only give Edinburgh a substantial marketing boost in the eyes of foreigners and travellers from other parts of the UK but will also encourage citizens to go out into the streets and visit their favourite venues. Thus, the campaign will result in the reinvigoration of many businesses that have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and will help them in getting back on their feet.
On the campaign’s launch, Adam McVey, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council stated that “There is no underestimating how important tourism and hospitality is to Edinburgh, whether that’s in terms of our city’s economy, local businesses and jobs or our residents’ wellbeing and enjoyment.
We’re lucky to have such an incredibly vibrant and varied offering at our fingertips - in part driven by the high levels of visitors that our beautiful city attracts – and we need to act urgently to provide support to our local businesses and help build the industry back to be as sustainable and resilient as possible. At the same time, we have to carefully balance this support with ensuring that Edinburgers can enjoy these businesses”
The ForeverEdinburgh campaign is a joint project developed by the Edinburgh City Council, the Edinburgh Tourism and Action Group (ETAG) as well as various industry partners. The initiative will also provide businesses with different campaign and marketing assets that will help them in their promotion efforts that will ultimately prove crucial to their survival in the coming months.
