This initиative builds on the existing advisory and project services of the EIB and is open to cities of all sizes
The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) launched a new advisory service to help cities plan investments - the Urban Investment Support (URBIS). URBIS seeks to help cities design, plan and implement their investment strategies and projects by offering tailor-made technical and financial advice, in particular on innovative financing options and in the field of climate action.
The European URBIS model will also be extended on a global scale. The EU Commission, the EIB, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Global Convent of Mayors are currently developing the global URBIS initiative. Its aim is to provide technical and financial assistance to cities worldwide, in order to mobilise private investment for climate action. One key objective of the global URBIS is to facilitate access to grants and concessional finance for cities of all sizes.
