Oxford street in London to become a pedestrian zone

Plans are to put a ban on bikes too

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, plans to turn Oxford streen in the British capital into a pedestrian zone by December next year. At least a section will be an entirely free-of-vehicles zone, report from The Guardian

One of the purposes of the need to get rid of vehicles in the area is to improve air quality and attempt to control pollution.

The changes will begin with a ban on buses but it wil apply for bikes too. Cyclists will be required to take other routes as well.

Oxford street is visited by milions of tourists every year and the shops in the area of Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street bring billions to Britain's economy.
