People under a 14-day coronavirus quarantine or isolation at home in Romania will receive bracelets and holsters that transmit data about their health and their location and Holter monitors, informed Nelu Tataru, the Romanian Secretary in the Ministry of Health. For example, if they have a fever, this will be immediately reported, as long as these people have no symptoms and are isolated this will only remain a precautionary measure.
All the people under quarantine in Romania are guarded by the authorities. For those under isolation, the devices will also provide the location of the wearer and will inform the authorities if they remain at home or decide to visit malls and markets.
The pilot project is being implemented in partnership with the City Hall of Bucharest’s District 1. It will be implemented for the first time in the Romanian capital because it is the largest urban agglomeration in the country. Later, the project will be expanded across the rest of the country.
At the end of the quarantine period of 14 days, the bracelets are given to other people and so on. At the moment, a total of 350 such devices are available and another 500 are to be put in use by the end of the week. In addition, another 3000 bracelets will be available within the following weeks.
In this regard, several legal cases were opened against Romanians who did not follow the coronavirus isolation rules. 18 Romanians currently have criminal records for the crime of disease prevention - persons who did not comply with the isolation rules for coronavirus - according to the information transmitted on 12 March by the Romanian authorities.
