The Danish toy company Lego has announced its environmentally-friendly toy options

The toy corporation will use more sustainable elements in their products

Danish toymaker Lego has just announced the launch of its first-ever bricks made from plant-based materials. For now just the Lego pieces such as plants, leaves, trees (a.k.a “botanical elements”) will be made from recyclable plant-based plastics, but the company’s goal is to change all of its blocks to sustainable materials by 2030.

The new pieces, made from a bioplastic sourced from Brazilian sugarcane, will start appearing in Lego kits this year. Switching from oil-based to plant-based plastics dramatically cuts the carbon footprint of a product by around 70%. The Danish toy company ensures their toys leave a legacy of innovation and care rather than waste and degradation.
