The world’s biggest museum devoted entirely to street art - the Museum for Urban Contemporary Art

The world’s largest Street Art Museum opened in Berlin

Although several street art museums have popped up throughout the world in recent years, this will be the world’s first museum that covers all genres of urban contemporary art, including graffiti, paste-ups, sculptures, acrylic designs, and other forms typically found in cityscapes. The idea behind the museum is to help people understand the street art movement as not just a “passing fad” but something credible, international and artistically important. The entrance is completely free of charge.

The museum’s exterior will be wrapped in murals created on portable panels that can be removed and archived. A “floating walkway” will transport visitors from the ground floor through two soaring 46-foot-tall exhibition spaces and up to two floors filled with artists in residency who will open their studios for public walkthroughs. There’s also an auditorium that will be used for workshops, a courtyard filled with sculptures, and a library featuring literature and images donated by acclaimed photojournalist Martha Cooper, who has spent the last 30 years documenting street art scenes around the world.
