One of the most beautiful gardens in Europe turns into an immersive experience for the night
After several difficult months of social isolation and eventless evenings, Europeans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of winter and its Christmas markets. Luckily, with the progress of vaccination rates, this year we will be able to enjoy more freedoms and there will likely be many more events to brighten up our days before the end-of-the-year holidays.
Residents and guests of Paris and the surroundings have been blessed with one such event, at least. Called Lumières en Seine (which translates to 'Lights on the Seine'), this immersive experience will take you on a walk in the park as you have never imagined before.
Lumières en Seine is an immersive journey of 2 kilometres along the paths of Parc de Saint-Cloud (formally known as Domaine national de Saint-Cloud). The path represents a succession of musical and light animations with a total duration of 1 hour and a half.
Every evening from 19 November 2021 to 9 January 2022 the park will light up at nightfall to the delight of visitors and offer them spectacular scenography, sensory discoveries, artistic revelations and many surprises. Nightwalkers will be able to stroll among illuminated water features, gold-haloed water lilies, twirling stars and breath-taking projections.
And entirely in the spirit of Christmas, the show will end up with tasty culinary offerings at the ephemeral chalets, with a cup of mulled wine in front of the park’s fountain. To us, this definitely sounds like something to look forward to, so go ahead and reserve your tickets at www.lumieresenseine.com.
Parc de Saint-Cloud is located in the Hauts-de-Seine department, near Paris and you can easily reach it by subway or bus. During the day, the 460-hectare green space offers an exquisite demonstration of garden art. Its garden is considered among the most beautiful in Europe, a reminiscence of the glorious celebrations that royalty used to organise in the Chateau in distant times.
