The event will engage proven entrepreneurs, brave investors, and innovators at national and international level in productive discussions about diversification of local economy of coal dependent regions. The webinar aims to strengthen the innovation potential of the local stakeholders and to empower them to think bigger and out of the box when applying for European funding.
Participants will be challenged to propose bold ideas and innovative solutions for local economic development in order to support the diversification of the territories. The experts will come from diverse fields to ensure appropriate mix of proposals. Their main task will be to expand the range of opportunities and involve in discussions local stakeholders, inspire local entrepreneurs and policy makers take bold decisions to ensure regional prosperity and growth.
The event is organised in two panels with moderator Angelina Todorova, EU policy expert and former deputy-minister of regional development of Bulgaria. Among the confirmed lecturers can be mentioned Agnès MONFRET, Head of Unit for Cohesion Policy in Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy, European Commission, Genady Kondarev, Senior Associate for Central and Eastern Europe at E3G, Boštjan Krajnc, Director of Energy Agency of Savinjska, Šaleška and Koroška region (KSSENA Institute) among others.

The general objective of the Transition Opportunities project is to promote the contribution of EU cohesion policy, Just Transition Fund, and Recovery Plan for Europe to ensure smooth and just transition to a climate-neutral economy of the regions that will be most affected by the green transformation.
To achieve this objective, we organised six regional events to raise awareness of the contribution and the results of the cohesion policy in Bulgaria; we conducted sociological surveys of the attitudes towards the Green Deal and awareness of cohesion policy’s instruments, mapping of best practices and social media challenges.
