Thessaloniki gets ready for its metro launch in November
The underground rapid transit lines have been under construction for almost two decades due to various project delays
Mayor of Megara is Grigorios Stamoulis. He was born and raised in Megara, where he still resides, with his wife Katerina Kalozoumis and their three sons, John, Meletis and Haris.
Stamoulis studied at the High School in Megara, where he graduated first in his class. He then enrolled and later graduated from the Army Military School (SEA) and was named Artillery Lieutenant in 1974. He graduated with honors from all Artillery Schools, as well as from the US Army High School. He served in many important positions in various units and headquarters of the Greek Army.
He also received a master's degree from the French Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies and has a degree in Computer Programming.
In addition to his service in the Army, he was actively involved with various social actions. In particular Stamoulis was:
Contribution to Local Government:
- Head of the Independent Citizens 'Union "Citizens' Union", elected by democratic processes from some 2,500 citizens who participated in the internal elections of the combination in October 2009.
- Independent Municipal Councilor as head of the Municipal Party of the Municipality of Megara.
- Was a member of the General Assembly of the Local Union of Municipalities and Communities of Attica.
- Was a member of the General Assembly of the Central Union of Municipalities and Communities of Greece (KEDKE).
- He is a member of the General Assembly of the Regional Association of Municipalities of Attica.
- He is a member of the General Assembly of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE).
- He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Special Graduate Association of Attica.
- President and Managing Director of the Municipal Organic Fertilizer Production and Marketing Company.
- Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Municipality of Megara.
- Chairman of the Quality of Life Committee of the Municipality of Megara.
- President of the Athanasius Style Legacy Foundation "Goin".
