Maciej Gramatyka

Maciej Gramatyka (1974, Tychy) has been the mayor of Tychy since the beginning of 2024.

He graduated in sociology from the University of Silesia in Katowice and has twenty years of experience as a radio journalist (at Radio Flash, Radio Plus Katowice and Radio eM). In the years 2014-16, Gramatyka worked as a spokesman for the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Katowice, and in the years 2016-2018, he was the director of the social communication department and spokesman for the Marshal's Office of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Maciej Gramatyka began his career in local politics in 2010 when he was elected as a city councillor. In 2018, he was appointed vice-president (vice-mayor) of the city for social affairs. Following the resignation of mayor Andrzej Dziuba (who left to become a Senator), Gramatyka was appointed as acting mayor at the beginning of 2024. 

During the Polish local elections in April 2024, he affirmed his position by being elected with 58.64% in the second round.
