He was director of the Association of Young Portuguese Farmers between 2004 and 2007. Since July 2006 he is the President of the Direction of the Cooperativa Agrícola de Alfândega da Fé.
He was President of the Municipal Political Committee of Customs of Alfândega da Fé of the Socialist Party from 2006 to 2017. In 2009 he was elected Vice-President of the Alfândega da Fé City Council by the socialist party. Now he is the mayor of Alfândega da Fé.
