Iulian Sîrbu has also graduated the "Simion Barnutiu" Faculty of Law within the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and boasts a degree in public administration.
During the 2012-2016 mandate, he was a member of the Sighișoara Local Council, representing the Independent Union for Sighișoara (U.I.P.S.).
On 27 September 2020, Iulian Sîrbu was elected mayor of Sighișoara.
