This Sunday starts the 60th season of classical open-air recitals with the eternal music of the Polish composer
If we are to choose only one good reason to fall in love with Warsaw, it has to be the opening of the Chopin concerts season at Royal Łazienki Park. Having first started exactly six decades ago, they have turned into an integral part of the cultural heritage of the Polish capital and an exquisite attraction for everyone passionate about classical music. Luckily, they are returning this Sunday, 19th May, for another season - lasting until the end of September. Dozens of artists have been announced already.
One of the oldest musical events in the city, the Chopin concerts have started in 1959 when the first musical performances were taking place at the green area around the composer’s statue in the picturesque park. First they consisted of a concert accompanied by an orchestra but since the 80’s popular actors have been reciting romantic poetry alongside the musical plays. Nowadays, visitors can enjoy both recitals by young talents, at the start of their careers, and world-renowned interpreters of the music of Fryderyk Chopin.
Organised every Sunday from 12h and 16h. All concerts are free to attend and take place outside. For more information and full programme, follow the link to the dedicated website.
