40 million EU funding for energy-efficient homes for people in need in Navarre

40 million EU funding for energy-efficient homes for people in need in Navarre

The Spainish community has begun construction of 524 social housing units

Navarra Social Housing has become a reality with the laying of the first stone by theatre and dance duo Amico Teatro on 13 March 2018. The project aims to build 524 social flats for rent in line with the ‘passive house’ sustainable construction standard. This ensures the highest levels of energy efficiency, with savings of up to 90% and nearly zero consumption. The total budget of the project is 40 million euro.

During the event, European Commission spokesman in Spain Lucas González Ojeda emphasised that “Navarra Social Housing is a good example of the kind of project funded by the Investment Plan for Europe. It involves productive investment to create local jobs which, in turn, facilitates social integration through access to housing, with a firm commitment to environmental protection.”
