5G technology - trend that will define smart cities in 2018

A new year tend rapresent time for renewal in many aspects, with focus on improvement

2018 presents the opportunity to reflect on the trends that shaped our cities during the last year, while preparing for the next amount of opportunities for evolution. The 5G topic is expected to dominate in many of the high level, European and global conversations in 2018. It is already started testing 5G in several cities.

Smart city technology is one niche area repeatedly mentioned as benefiting in a big way once 5G officially rolls out, at the very least, in a limited form, late in 2018. The high-speed service is expected to better support the sensors and communication between many Internet of Things devices. It will reportedly help existing devices, such as public safety cameras. They will operate more smoothly and effectively while paving the way for efficiently introducing new ones, such as autonomous vehicles.
