Los nuevos trenes mejorarán los servicios en la L5
TMB, la autoridad de transporte de Barcelona, ha anunciado que lanzará un nuevo tren de segunda generación (de la serie CAF 5000) esta semana en la línea 5 del metro. Este tren se unirá a otros dos del mismo tipo, que han estado operativos desde el viernes pasado, y otro que ha estado funcionando desde el 8 de junio.
Los nuevos trenes fueron fabricados por Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) en su fábrica en la localidad vasca de Beasain. Las nuevas series 5000 son casi idénticas a los trenes que ya transportan pasajeros en las líneas 3 y 5 de la red urbana.
Sin embargo, hay ligeras modificaciones en los interiores de los coches. Estos se refieren a la introducción de espacios más amplios para sillas de ruedas (4 en total), ubicados en los extremos de la composición, y la instalación de botones de emergencia para personas con movilidad reducida. Las secciones centrales de los trenes también tienen espacios donde se pueden guardar bicicletas durante el viaje.

Cada tren puede transportar a 927 personas, de las cuales 108 pueden sentarse. Los coches están interconectados y forman un corredor continuo que permite movimiento sin restricciones en el interior. Los trenes tienen una longitud de 86 m y pueden desarrollar una velocidad máxima de 80 km/h.
La flota de trenes en la línea 5 ahora permitirá tener 34 composiciones durante las horas pico. El servicio en la línea 1 también se reforzará con la adición de cuatro trenes CAF 6000, que llegarán antes del fin de año.
En total, TMB ha invertido 92 millones de euros para la compra de nuevos trenes. Además de los 8 ya mencionados, hay otros cuatro trenes para las líneas 3 y 4, de los cuales solo queda uno por entregar.
