On 9 and 10 December, the Federal Police of Belgium invites you to a “Smart Policing” hackathon. The event is meant for individuals and groups, and it will take place entirely online. It aims to create a fruitful environment for the emergence of innovative ideas on how to resolve the new challenges that police are facing today.
The event, organised with Institute Vias et EY, is open to start-ups, students, developers, researchers and enterprises. For two days, the participants should come up with innovative and digital solutions in the fields of:
A hackathon is a creative format for solving problems, which stimulates innovative and out-of-the box solutions. Usually, it takes place between 24 and 48 hours, during which time the participants must design new concepts, business models, processes, technologies and solutions to meet predefined challenges.
In the current case, the format requires from teams to develop prototypes or tangible and functional products based on a convincing business plan. At the end of the event, the authors of each solution will be given a few minutes to demonstrate their results to an expert jury. The most promising projects will be rewarded on 11 December.
