Carlow County Council is Delivering Real Housing Support

The Carlow County of Ireland implements a consistent policy of helping out its citizens to find and maintain good housing throughout the years

Along with its building programme, the County Council in Carlow assists its citizens with renovations and repairs in the home, as a measure to stimulate them to remain in the county.  The actions’ amount can go as high as €1.5m annually in grants to individual households. The following schemes are in place: Housing Adaptation and Mobility Grants and Housing for Older People.  The housing grants which the County Council provides are an essential part of housing services delivered by the Housing Department . They have a major role in improving the quality of life of the elderly and disabled people; in improving living conditions and allowing people to keep their own homes and in the community where they have already established social bounds. They are part of the Carlow’s Age Friendly County Strategy.

In partnership with The Monastery Hostel and FOCUS IRELAND, Carlow County Council also provides homeless emergency accommodation and tenancy supports if necessary.

Carlow is a county located in Southeast Ireland with a population of around 56 thousand people. It is more than a millennium old and is famous by the Carlow Castle build by William Marshal.
