As part of the second edition of the ‘Catalunya Rural Hub’ initiative
During the pandemic, Catalonian authorities noticed that there was a strong desire among many people to leave the city and settle, at least for some time, in the countryside.
That is why the Catalan government, together with the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation, launched the 'Catalunya Rural Hub' initiative in 2021, with the aim of attracting professionals from the digital field to the sparsely populated rural areas of the autonomous region and thus generating a commercial and economic impact in the territory.
Now, the second edition of the project is set to take place in May and June and the organizers are looking for participants. A perfect opportunity for remote workers to take their laptops and try some country living for a change.
In this edition, a total of 30 professionals in the digital sector will have the opportunity to live and work remotely for a week in Móra d'Ebre (Ribera d'Ebre) and Tremp (Pallars Jussà). The stays will be in groups of 10 professionals. Móra d'Ebre will host two groups in two different weeks: from 29 to 3 June and from 12 to 17 June. Tremp, meanwhile, will host his group 22-27 May.
Participants will have, free of charge, accommodation, a coworking space and an activity plan that will allow them to get to know the environment, the companies and the economic and social fabric of the territory, with the aim of establishing relationships, both personal and professional. Those interested will be able to apply at the end of March.
The intention of the project is to promote that the professionals end up settling in rural environments and develop their personal and professional life. Teleworking increases the population and creates dynamism in sparsely populated areas, decompresses large cities, promotes family reconciliation, saves time and reduces mobility and the carbon footprint.
