It is a well-established fact that the Austrian state of Tyrol is among the world’s leaders in the development and advancements of alpine technologies. With many companies already boasting an established presence in the region, authorities are looking forward to attracting new and up-and-coming start-ups to further develop the sector.
The Governor of Tyrol, Günther Platter, stated that despite the state being home to some of the most advanced companies in the sector, there is still plenty of room for development. “The potential has not yet been exhausted”, he stated.
With ambitions to further cement Tirol’s place as a worldwide alpine technologies leader the regional government commissioned Lebensraum Tirol Holding GmbH to promote and establish the perfect place for companies working in the sector to network. Thus, in cooperation with Standortagentur Tirol and IECT - Hermann Hauser, the “Alpine Tech Innovation Hub” will soon open its doors in the town of Wattens.
The Innovation Hub will cover a total of 122 square meters. It is expected that the venue should be able to host between five and ten companies at any given time. With a 15-euro day tax or a 200-euro month-long subscription, companies will be able to rent out parts of the location and equip them according to their own designs.
Specific programmes are planned so that everyone currently residing in the venue will regularly come into contact with each other, thus improving connectivity and creating beneficial partnerships, leading to increased competitivity and more innovations.
The center is expected to open its doors sometime in 2020. With networking and social programmes already developed by the hosts, now its only up to companies to secure their spots in the Innovation Hub.
