Cross-border cooperation against air pollution

15 institutions from 3 European Union member states join forces against air pollution

level. This is why partners from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have joined forces in fighting against air and noise pollution in a cross-border project, funded by the European Union. The partnership under AIR-TRITIA comprises of 15 organizations and includes cities, regional administrations, research centres and universities.  

The project previews the creation of a unified information database, an Air Quality Management System by 2019, Prediction Warning System, as well as local and regional strategies by 2020, among others. It has the objective to apply a cooperation approach to the air quality management while using detailed mathematical modelling by supercomputers. So far, an air pollution model has been prepared, which calculates individual and domestic emissions;  and also a comprehensive traffic model.

The project AIR-TRITIA is funded by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE programme, which is focused on tackling common challenges in the Old Continent. It will receive 2.6 million euro and lasts from June 2017 to May 2020.
