The Belgian city promotes healthy lifestyles with free access to 50 sports
Have you always wanted to take up sports, to test your physical abilities and to live a healthier life? If, just like us, you have been waiting for the right moment, be it Monday or New Year, then you have probably been delaying for years now. Well, we have a suggestion. Start now as there is no better time to start a hobby than September – the beginning of the new schoolyear or the return from holidays for adults.
This is what the local authorities in the Belgian city of Hasselt believe as they provide a wonderful opportunity for locals. In order to stimulate them to lead a more active lifestyle, over the whole month of September all persons residing in the municipality and older than 18 years will be given free access to sporting activities. The trial period is valid for participating local clubs, which count around 100. Furthermore, the access gives residents the chance to challenge themselves with over 50 different sports and discover which one suits them best. Be it dances, football, judo or even kayak, there are no limits and there is something in for everyone, regardless of age.
Full list of participating sports establishments and more information are available from the Municipality of Hasselt.
