The Polish city wants to label all places where families with children can actively participate in the socio-cultural life
If you know of a place in Krakow that is particularly child and parent-friendly, make sure to spread the word about it. The Polish city calls for submissions of such places which will later be marked with a special sticker. The idea behind this initiative of the municipality is to draw attention to the special needs of families with children. The local government wants to distinguish the entities that actively take action to create suitable facilities where families feel comfortable and actively participate in the socio-cultural life of Krakow, according to deputy mayor Andrzej Kulig.
Entities that have been statutorily established in order to carry out tasks for families with children cannot be suggested. During the assessment of places, the state of the facilities provided like play corners, chairs, changing tables, cleanliness etc. will be taken into consideration. The entities should belong to one of the following categories:
In addition, the winners of the vote in individual categories will be awarded with the certificate of the Mayor of the City of Krakow, which will be handed during a gala organized after the end of the project. Additionally, the awarded places will be presented and promoted on city websites, in particular those devoted to pro-family activities.
The initiative is part of the pro-family policy of the Municipality of Krakow and the social campaign "Krakow bets on the Family", which is under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of the City of Krakow. Submissions are accepted online or by post before 30th September. More information at Krakow.pl (in Polish).
