Helsinki is a leader in mobility-as-a-service

Close behind Helsinki come Stockholm, Vienna and Amsterdam

Helsinki was found to be the city most ready for large-scale mobility-as-a-service( MaaS) deployment in the latest study by research group Juniper. MaaS integrates multi-modal transport services, including buses, taxis, rail and metro, offering compelling on-demand services, resulting in transportation modal shifts. Stakeholder partnerships are fundamental to MaaS in order to develop a viable multi-modal system delivering significant cost- and time-savings to the user and exactly the collaboration between the government and MaaS vendors puts Helsinki in the top spot.

The popularity of these services reflects their ease of use and the time that they save for users. These services also complement cities’ emission targets by reducing individual private vehicle use. Take up of mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) platforms is expected to replace more than 2.3 billion urban private car journeys annually by 2023, a new study finds, which also ranked the cities most prepared for large-scale MaaS service deployment.
