Alstom, an enterprise focused on providing mobility solutions for the low carbon future, will deliver 34 new electrical double-decker trains to Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG), the responsible authority for local rail transport in Lower Saxony, Germany. This was stated today by the company’s press centre.
The value of the contract will be 760 million euros and the company will be committed to maintaining the train service for 30 years. The trains are expected to start operating at the end of 2024.
The president of the Alstom DACH region, Müslüm Yakisan, stated: “I am very pleased with the decision of the State of Lower Saxony and LNVG to set an example for sustainable mobility and climate protection with our Coradia Stream. Our modern double-decker train for LNVG is an ideal combination of innovation and passenger comfort. The order is also an important signal for value creation in the region. Alstom has been contracted to maintain the trains for 30 years, which includes a guarantee for spare parts at all times. We are building our own service centre especially for this order and will thus set an example with regard to environmental protection and energy efficiency.”
Passenger comfort is essential for the company and therefore trains will be provided with variable seating capacities. Each train will have at least 2 driving cars and 2 central cars but can expand to 6 cars for each train. The purchased vehicles are going to be 154 in total.
The Coradia Stream High Capacity, electrical trains, is recognisable through the combination of one- and two-story trolleys, achieving maximum capacity and flexibility. This includes easy mobility access and meets the needs and expectations of passengers. The new trains will combine standard and individual solutions.
