The program aims to encourage employers to hire unemployed older workers on a permanent contract
Statistic shows that the employment rate of older workers in Slovenia is much lower, particularly in the 59-64 age group, compared to the average percent in the other European Union’s members. In an effort to increase employment of older workers, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities has just announced the starting of the program “Encouraging Employment of the Elderly – Active until Retirement”.
As part of a special program to promote the employment of elder workers, the Slovenian government has made 14 million Euros available to employers, of which 11.2 million will come from the European Social Fund. The program aims to encourage employers to hire unemployed older workers on a permanent contract. A call for employers to apply for subsidies will be published by the national Employment Service of Slovenia soon.
