The City Council has unveiled plans for the creation of a massive new business and office space

Leicester City Council recently unveiled its plans for the complete and total redevelopment of Pilot House in King Street. The former factory building will be transformed into the perfect location for start-ups and expanding businesses.

The transformation of Pilot House

Following construction efforts, the King Street area will boast brand new office and coworking spaces that will be ready to host Leicester’s ever-expanding business community. The City Council envisions for the new and upgraded Pilot House to have a central courtyard, a meticulously crafted business zone for tech and digital companies and, of course, a vast co-working space.

When it comes to aesthetics, the City Council aims to preserve the building’s overall feel – the exposed bricks and beams will remain in place, while a new entrance facing King Street that will lead to the courtyard will also be created.

The Mayor of Leicester Sir Peter Soulsby pointed to the need for the redevelopment of Pilot House and explained that the City Council expects the venture to turn out to be profitable in the end “  “Pilot House offers huge potential to provide much-needed, high-quality office space in a very attractive part of the city. The investment we have already made in this area has brought in hundreds of jobs thanks to the relocation of Mattioli Woods. By redeveloping Pilot House we will be able to bring in hundreds more and to cement the reputation of this area and the city as a fantastic place to do business. We would also expect to make an excellent return on our investment which will generate rental income for many years to come from what is currently a vastly under-used property.”

The project is expected to cost the city of Leicester around £9 million and work is scheduled to begin sometime in the spring of 2021.
