European commissioner Maria Gabriel took part in this year’s Mayor of the Year Ceremony in Bulgaria by launching the innovative project TheMayor.eu – The Portal of the European Municipalities.
“It is an honor for me to be here”, were the opening words of the commissioner, “and if we have to work with the people who know the people – it is the mayors”.
“Today’s awards are not only acknowledgement but also responsibility, acknowledgement for the efforts you put every day to work for the better living of citizens.”
According to the European commissioner, “being connected and together” are the key aspects of her work in the European Commission.
“Congratulations on the creating of such a platform, it brings together the European citizens.”, added Maria Gabriel during the ceremony.
Maria Gabriel finished her speech with the words: “I wish the platform good luck. This ceremony shows that when one has a clear goal, results don’t come late.”
