More 109 million EU funding for the Koper-Divača rail track upgrade in Slovenia

The estimated costs of the entire project is around a billion euro

Slovenia secured 109 million euros through a Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) blending call. The funds will be used for the construction of 16.7 km of tunnels needed for a second track to the Koper port. The estimated costs of the entire project have been standing at around a billion euro.

The CEF funds had been frozen in the face of the referendums on the act governing the project. The act was cleared again in the 13 May referendum. The agreement on the phasing of the funds was signed by 2TDK, the company set up by the outgoing government to manage the construction of the Koper-Divača rail track upgrade, and of the European Commission`s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA).
