Local authorities in Graz are ramping up their anti-COVID efforts with the opening of a new testing centre meant specifically for those with symptoms of the disease. The mass tests carried out last weekend were designed to detect infected people who have no symptoms.
"MEDIUS - Center for Health in cooperation with the City of Graz is offering a test station at Lendplatz for everyone who has symptoms and wants to find out quickly and close to home whether they have been infected with the Covid virus," explained Health Councillor Robert Krotzer.
The establishing of a new testing point is crucial to fill the supply gap of tests in Graz which is especially well pronounced in its more densely populated and less developed areas. For example, there are plenty of doctors offering tests on the left side of the Mur where people are generally more well-off, compared to its right side where citizens have lower household incomes.
"The offer is especially for patients with symptoms. You can do a quick test with us. If the test is positive, a PCR test will be carried out on-site," explains Priv.-Doz. Dr. Stefan Korsatko, general practitioner and founder of MEDIUS. "For everyone who has cold symptoms such as coughing or aching limbs, the costs are covered in a pilot project. Privately paid tests are also possible," adds the general practitioner Dr. Ines Muchitsch: "Anyone who has a positive result will be referred to their family doctor for further treatment."
The test station is open from Monday, December 21, from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. You can register for a test over at www.etermin.net/medius
