Opera is getting more accessible for young people in Italy

Opera is getting more accessible for young people in Italy

The new initiative is designed to broaden Italians’ access to culture

Young people between 18 and 25 will soon be able to get a seat at Italy's finest opera houses for just 2 Euros. This will be possible because of the new initiative designed to bring culture as close as possible to new generations. This is an important action because many of the youngsters are a bit skeptical and think opera and ballet are outdated.

The country's most famous opera house, La Scala in Milan, will begin offering the cut-price tickets to 18 to 25 year olds from next year. Typically tickets for one of La Scala's operas start at around 30 Euros for a seat in the nosebleed section, climbing to nearly 300 Euros for a place in the stalls. Another 13 opera foundations, which represent theatres in Rome, Venice, Naples, Verona and other cities across the country, have agreed to follow suit.
